It's all about The Technique

by Jo Jewett

The Technique is designed around understanding your bespoke personal skin care needs, then assessing your make-up colour range and what tools you need to create your new look. So, let us introduce you to the first 3 simple steps that all our Masterclasses use as. the foundation to a confident you!

Skin Care

The truth is - if you are over 40 your skin has changed! Your skin becomes less elastic, drier and thinner with far more open pores but with so many skincare products on the shelves, even the smartest of us will be taken in by clever marketing. Beauty counters full of slick looking boxes of serums, peels, masks, lotions - all promising the secret to perfect skin. The options are endless, but we are not aligned to any cosmetic brand or company, priding our ourselves on only recommending products that are truly perfect for you (even homemade ones!).

"A regular, achievable, skin care routine is key to your makeup success!"

The condition of your skin has has a direct effect on your make-up. Unprepared skin leads to the make-up fading during the day, or sitting too heavily on your skin and you never get that beautiful glowing fresh faced look - enter The Make-Up Training Company.

Your Colour Scope

The first thing we look at is the colour of your eyes, which along with the colour/tone of your skin, determines the 'Colour Scope' used...
Heathers and Berries or Peaches and Creams

As a general rule of thumb, the 'Heathers and Berries' range is perfect for...

  • Green (making the colour of your eyes stand out like an emerald).
  • If you are of sallow skin, Asian, of colour or oriental (to brighten the face and eyes)

The 'Peaches and Creams' range is best suited for...
  • Blue and Brown eyes (although technically, as the song goes, brown eyes suit either colour scope!)
  • Fairer skin tones (for a softer, more natural look)

The key to your colour is that when we have decided your range you must follow through with contour, blush and lips all in the same colour scope.

"The trick is to keep it simple and get rid of the stuff you don’t use. You should be able to put your full kit into one small makeup bag! I know, its a bit scary but it works".

Your Tool Kit

Getting the right tools to complete the job is so important, ‘A bad workman blames his tools’
Well, in this case its right. First is your brush kit and you don't need hundreds of them - just 5 key brushes!

Next is to address our eyesight, so a magnifying mirror is essential. It can be scary but its important to see the finest details of your face.

  • Eye lash curlers
  • Exfoliating brushes
  • A washed out mascara brush
  • ... And a toothbrush (!)

No we haven’t lost the plot, all will be revealed at your Masterclass. Other than the strange and the obvious, you may wonder where the sponges or foundation brushes are, they are in the bin! The best tools are the ones God gave you - your fingers.
